HMI Design for a Rotary Indexing Table Machine

An HMI for a four-station rotary table machine that lists all nine cylinder actions step by step, so you can see where it stopped at a glance, with serial numbers and output counted automatically.

CHALLENGE

Challenge

A rotary table machine has many motion steps, and when something went wrong the operators often could not tell which step it was stuck on. The customer also wanted a serial number for every workpiece and automatic output counting.

SOLUTION

Solution

We used a Weintek cMT series HMI. The main screen lists the nine cylinder actions of the unloading sequence one by one, and the four stations (loading, laser marking, a spare station and unloading) each show present, completed, fault and working status. Serial numbers increment automatically and can be reset, and there are additional pages for recipes, parameters, events and machining records.

EQUIPMENT

Equipment and Technology

  • Weintek cMT series HMI
  • KEYENCE PLC programming
  • Pneumatic components
  • KEYENCE laser marker interface

RESULTS

Results

  • Four-station rotary process visualized
  • Cylinder actions shown step by step
  • Serial numbers and part counts tracked automatically

When the machine stops, the screen shows exactly which step it stopped on, so troubleshooting is much faster, and output no longer has to be counted by hand.
